The church was completed in 1861. It was believed that the land was donated by John Tindale but in a Sydney Morning Herald article in 1853 it stated that the block of land had been granted to the Wesleyans by Captain McHenry. The church was renovated in 1885. The kerbing of Henry Street outside the church (seen in the foreground) was constructed in 1887. Around the early 1900s the church became known as the Penrith Methodist Church. The last service was held 1 December 1974 when the church moved to a new location in Evan Street. The church was converted to professional offices in the 1980s and later began operating as the King Henry's Court restaurant.
