The Union Inn operated during the mid 1860's. With the opening of the railway line through Emu Plains in the late 1860s, road traffic declined and the Union Inn closed and became a residence. The former inn is a long low structure, with a rendered facade and a corrugated iron roof continuous over return verandas. In the 1990's the building was extensively damaged by fire.
