The Lemongrove Estate precinct covers the area of Lemongrove Road to Blaxland Avenue and The Crescent to Thurston Street. It was occupied by John and Sarah MacHenry in 1827, and was granted to Sarah in 1834; later to be purchased by Robert and Margaret Thurston. In 1885 the area was subdivided and sold on behalf of their children. The subdivision attracted merchants and professional men, as well as working class men, in particular railway employees; which is reflected by the variety of architectural styles.
