Elijah Smith

Elijah Smith was born on 6 April 1800 and was ordained in 1827. He was sent out to Australia as the third incumbent at St Matthew's in Windsor in December 1827 where he remained for one year. By 1833 he was in Russia where he remained until 1839. He returned to Australia in 1851 and was given his own parish in 1853. This parish included St Stephen the Martyr in Penrith and St Mary Magdalene in South Creek (St Marys). He remained the minister until 1868, when he retired. He died in 1870.
