Landers Inn, Castlereagh Road, Castlereagh

Landers Inn was originally known as the Oddfellow Inn and was built around 1841. It became known as Landers Inn when James Landers was granted the licence in 1856. William Landers (James's son) sold the inn to Henry Holland in 1885. It was also known as the Welcome Inn, the Farmers Arms, Australian Arms and Travellers Inn. The squared sandstone outbuilding is believed to have been used as stables for this inn. It was reconstructed in the 1930s and a ‘’bungalow’’ residence was put at the front. Apparently in 1920s flood, the top storey of the old inn was used as a refuge for Castlereagh people. It is now part of the Penrith Lakes Scheme.
