John Page established Saylhurst Tannery around 1856. He sold to Robert Saddington in 1866. It would pass through many owners including Thomas Alcock, Frederick Clissold and Anschau and Sons. The tannery closed in 1911 and most of the tannery buildings were demolished. This building was also known as Anschau's Boot Factory and Margaret Farm Barn.
