A Penrith alderman has called for Penrith's only major art gallery, the Lewers, to be sold. Independent alderman Mr Kevin Crameri believes there are too many hidden costs in running the Lewers, which is owned and operated by Penrith Council. He said the sale of the premises in River Rd, Emu Plains, would provide much needed funds for the city - as well as saving a quarter-of-a-million dollars a year in running costs.
