Get ready for an action-packed session where learning meets excitement across two fantastic interactive stations designed to hook young minds!
At the Indoor Fishing Simulators, kids can dive into the thrill of fishing without leaving dry land. Using real rods and reels, they’ll battle giant virtual fish, feeling every twist, pull, and splash through the line, with a dynamic on-screen simulation bringing the underwater action to life!
At the Make Your Own Bait + Fishing History station, children will roll up their sleeves and create their own bait using simple bread dough. Along the way, they’ll discover the rich traditions of Indigenous fishing practices and hear the powerful Dreamtime story of Thurkeri. This story shares an important message about respect for the environment, the dangers of overfishing, and the value of caring for our natural world.

Join us for Kids in the Kitchen, a fun and hands-on cooking workshop where young chefs will create their very own delicious Strawberry Parfait Cups! With all ingredients provided, children will explore food preparation in a safe, supportive environment while learning simple kitchen skills and techniques. Our guided session encourages creativity, confidence, and interactive learning—making it the perfect recipe for fun and discovery!

Throughout the year we include a range of bilingual stories and languages to our regular sessions celebrating the diversity of our community.

When: Available during library opening hours
Where: Penrith City Libraries.
Plus, enjoy a great selection of board games for older children and teens.
Browse and borrow at all library branches during library opening hours, then take them home to play. Toys are cleaned thoroughly before and after use on return to the library.

Toy Library Outreach Service

We specialise in providing toys for children with disability and high support needs. Featuring switch-adapted, sensory and educational toys, children will delight in making them function through lighting up, playing sounds and movement. Through hands-on play, they can build valuable problem-solving, coordination, reasoning, numeracy, literacy and fine motor skills.

Members of Penrith City Libraries can now access Story Box Library for free!
Story Box Library offers a range of free content directly to library members on any device with internet connection for pre-school to upper primary students. Have story time any time with a range of actors, comedians, sportspeople, musicians, authors, illustrators, TV presenters, performers, students, grandparents, activists and educators – each sharing their unique voice.
Story Box Library also offers at-home-activities and short films featuring authors and illustrators to inspire young minds.
