The council chambers was built in 1881. Made of brick on stone foundations and roofed with galvanized iron with 'Alfred Colless, Mayor' above the door, the building had a forty foot long Chamber and two small rooms. It was designed by David McBeath and built by local Thomas Clissold. In 1959 the council moved to new premises on the corner of Henry & Station Street. The building was demolished in 1964.
