The ethnographic and linguistic evidence relating to the Dharug Aborigines who lived across the Western Cumberland Plain in 1788. This rich and diverse ecological zone did in fact support a substantial population of Aborigines. Archaeological surveys confirm that at least from the recent past, occupation sites are to be found throughout this area.
