Abstract: "Construction of a dam or weir alters natural river process causing physical, chemical and biological changes to, both upstream and downstream. Impoundment is severely affected on downstream with changing flow regime, water temperature, turbidity, dissolved nutrients, pH value, conductivity and also affect on geomorphological characteristics like river bed degradation and aggradation, river metamorphosis, vegetation encroachment and narrowing the channel. However, these morphological and environmental changes adversely affect on fish migration, lacking favourable habitats and spawning grounds and feeding patterns. In contrast to native fish, which are originated from marine background are differ from Northern Hemisphere salmon, trout and cyprinids. Due to adaption of some introduced fish in Australian aquatic habitats, natives have to compete with them for their resources. Therefore, further consideration is very important in application of technology for Australian freshwater fishes. Fortunately, some native fish can tolerate changing temperature, and different water qualities."
