Combining irreverent humor, behind-the-scenes drama and a unique visual style, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty chronicles the story of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers, a team that defined a glitzy era – both on and off the court. In 1979, with the future of the NBA on the line, eccentric businessman Jerry Buss stakes his fortune on the lacklustre Lakers. Buss sets out to build an all-star roster, anchored by flashy rookie Earvin "Magic" Johnson and seasoned veteran Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, but a myriad of personal and professional crises could derail his dream of winning a championship.
