Stubborn family loyalty means Grant Lunsford, roving cowpuncher, won't change his name, despite the fact that being the younger brother of notorious outlaw, Boss Lunsford, costs him job after job. But when he beats up a bartender after hearing the popular ballad about Boss being sung in the bar, John Kinsley, owner of the Paradise Ranch, sees the fight and hires Grant as foreman. Soon after, the other ranchers of The Strip band together to oppose the inroads of oil drillers. Kinsley refuses to join them, declaring that he's going into oil himself and touching off a bloody feud. To complicate matters, Grant falls in love with Kinsley's stepdaughter when the big rancher plans to marry her off to his eastern oil-promoter partner. When their secret meetings are reported to Kinsley, the news precipitates a private war between him and his foreman...
