For good buddies Ben and Mickey there's an awful lot of downtime during a zombie apocalypse. Starved for contact they do their best to kill both the time and the odd undead wayfarer that happens their way. But it's not one big barricade party, either. As former baseball team mates, Ben and Mickey argue and co-exist like a married couple or more accurately a catcher and pitcher. They scavenge. They look out for each other. They even sing. Yet hope tears at them differently; so too, it is revealed, their wildly divergent approaches to dealing with the undead. Part character study and elegiac road movie traversing the haunted New England woodlands, The Battery, as it builds to an unpredictable third act explores with humour the notions of life expectancy, what it means to be alone and how we maintain our humanity.
