It was a golden age of music, when rock n roll and pop was on the rise and local audiences were hungry for more. With TV in its infancy, 1958 heralded the beginning of the much-loved national television triumph Bandstand. Created by TCN-9 executive Bruce Gyngell and modelled on the successful American musical /variety show of the same name, Bandstand was hosted by the ever-charming Brian Henderson - setting the standard for 14 entertaining years and presenting an astonishing 1500 local and international acts during its illustrious reign.
