Micky Allerton, club owner, has a problem, his best dancer has deserted him. Fran Varady also has a problem in that if she doesn't find Lisa (the dancer), Fran's dog will be held hostage by one of Mickey's bouncers. Fran, who is an amateur sleuth goes to Oxford to see Lisa's parents but on the way she discovers a corpse in the Thames, which lands her in trouble with the Thames Valley Police. Fran finally meets up with Lisa and Fran realises that there are underlying reasons as to her disappearance, and she decides to help her. Fran has got herself mixed up in something dangerous, and if she doesn't want to end up in a watery grave, she'd better watch her back.
