Warragamba township was created to house the men and their families during the construction of the Warragamba Dam. The town had over 500 homes, fully serviced with water, electricity and sewerage. The community included churches, a school, baby health centre, kindergarten, ovals, shops and a post office. At its peak the population reached 3,500 of which 1,000 were children.
