Captain William Russell died on 2 April 1866 aged 59 years. He was a Justice of the Peace and a former Lieutenant in the 28th Regiment. He was the husband of Jane Rebecca Griffiths Jamison, daughter of Sir John Jamison. It is a pink granite obelisk on a plinth and sandstone base. There is a sandstone kerb and a fence of cast and wrought iron surrounding the monument.
