In August 1916 a fire resulted in the complete destruction of premises of Mr E Summons in High Street, Penrith. A boot and shoe repairer and retailer, Mr Summons lost all is stock and equipment, The adjoining building, Mrs Bishop's refreshment establishment was partially destroyed.
