Police Court - Court Charges

Articles
Before Messrs J D Single, J K Lethbridge, and J L Cleeve, J'sP. Joseph Fletcher on remand did not appear due to the warrant being unexecuted. Postponed. Edward Henderson of Emu and Robert Greenhalgh were summoned for furious riding. Fined 5s and 2s.6d. costs. Edward Joyce was charged with allowing dancing in his public house on Boxing Night. Snr Constable Fowler was at Joyce's between 10 and 11 p., and saw James Frankling and E Hogan having a jig. The Sergeant called these men as witnesses, but their evidence was weak. Defendant called Isaac Easterbrook, who swore he had been living next to Joyce's 11 months, and never saw a dance there yet. Lowest penalty applied.
