Penrith Council began to fly the red, black & yellow Aboriginal flag full time from July 7, 2002 - The flag was raised to mark National Aboriginal & Islander Day of Celebration week - Penrith Council said it had decided to keep the flag flying beside the Australian flag to show its commitment to reconciliation - Penrith is the home of the Darug people.
