Pr., 1826.'Wild notes' was the first book of verse by an Australian-born poet to be published in the colony.First printed in 1826 in Sydney by Robert Howe, Wild notes was the first collection of verse to be published in NSW by a native born Australian poet, Charles Tompson Charles was the son of convict Charles Tompson. His grandparents William Boggis and Elizaabeth Smith were also convicts. Charles Tompson junior was educated by Reverend Henry Fulton at his Castlereagh Classical Academy close to where his parents held a land grant. The family later settled at Clydesdale.Includes bibliographical references.
