Upton, John, 1939-1987
Books, Manuscripts
The Warhorse is a comedy about power and political machinations. It deals with the Labor Party politics at the level of local councils, but the issues raised deal with government at all levels. The Warhorse was premiered by the King O'Malley Theatre Company at the Stables Theatre on October 9, 1980. John Upton founded the Australian Writers' Theatre, an organisation established by playwrights to promote Australian plays and help train young playwrights. He was president from 1981 to 1986.
