Site is located on Portions 126 and 127, Parish of Londonderry. Site was initially set aside for the Poliomyelitis and Physically Handicapped Society in 1971. Development did not occur until 1982 with the construction of the Cherrywood village. In 1947 and 1961 the site was covered with trees and undeveloped land.
