This publication provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander recollections and experiences of the development of UWS. It focuses on the interaction between UWS and the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander local communities, and of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within the University and its forerunner institutions. The publication provides well-illustrated works celebrating the culture, presence and contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to UWS and its regions. The aim is to place the development of UWS' Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and employment advancement within the broader trends of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experience in Sydney's Greater West, demonstrating the importance of the University as 'First Peoples space' to the University's regional and sectoral constituencies.
