The Special Areas Strategic Plan of Management (SASPoM) is a comprehensive long term plan for managing Sydney's drinking water catchments. The Special Areas to which this plan refers extend over app 370,000 hectares of land. They surround the water storages supplying Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra and act as a buffer zone to protect water quality in these storages.
