Lavishly illustrated book which traces the rediscovery of the site of Australia's first Government House. Demolished in 1845, the building was located at what is now the corner of Phillip and Bridge Streets in Sydney. The authors present a detailed report on the archaeological investigation of the site and insights into the early life of the colony. Contains a bibliography and index.
