"This book is a record of the parish registers of St Stephens Anglican Church, Kurrajong from the period 1861-1902. It incorporates the records from St Philips Chapel of Ease, North Richmond, St James Church of England, Kurrajong Heights and Salis Flats Mission Church. The transcribed records of baptisms, marriages and burials are accompanied with a history of the parish, its clergy and some of the early settlers to give a better understanding of Kurrajong's past and its place in the history of the Hawkesbury. The records document the growth, character and early settlement patterns in the Kurrajong district as well as giving an indication of local industries and occupations. They also convey a strong sense of place and belonging as well as outlining a history of families in the area. Transcribing hand-written historical documents is a difficult and often time-consuming task. It has taken more than three years for the records to be recorded digitally and another year to compile them into this first volume. As the Reverend Shaun McGregor says in his foreword, thanking those involved in the book's production, "In doing so they have provided an invaluable resource to all those who would find details of their own family history and of our community's history"--Back cover.
