In Australia brickmaking and constructing buildings made of bricks began about March 1788. it was convicts who made the bricks then, as well as convicts doing the bricklaying, and a convict who supervised all this work. they made simple clay bricks, using a wooden mould and of the size stipulated by legislation in the English Parliament.
