A narrative of the experiences of Mossman and Banister as they traveled through Victoria and New South Wales in 1853. It was one of the first guidebooks to Australia. They were particularly interested in recording life on the various gold fields. They travel through St Marys (pages 266-267) and describe Sir Maurice O'Connell's estate. They also compare the differences between Penrith, the burgeoning town, and St Marys, the village.
