The subject of this report is a small timber amenities building in the western portion of the railway yard associated with Penrith Station. State Rail propose to demolish the building.

Penrith railway history - Penrith Locomotive Depot - history of the amenities building: the building is divided into 4 rooms and was conpleted in 1958. Despite the official closure of the locomotive depot in 1956 the workshop remained for some time and the amenities building was used by staff working there. The building was extended in 1967/8. Although the loco depot was closed it became a sub-depot of Enfield for the servicing and stabling of steam locomotives up until 1970.
