The Penrith city centre access map has been commissioned to make the business centre of Penrith city more accessible for everyone.Penrith City Council maintains a proud commitment to increase accessibility throughout the city for all its residents and visitors. Most recently, Council has prepared the Penrith inclusion plan - People with disability 2009-2013. Council's second disability action plan identifies over eighty actions and strategies to be implemented over the next four years to make our city more accessible and inclusive. The access map provides information about street access, accessible services and facilities within Penrith town centre. It includes information about accessible technologies available at Penrith library and accessible ammenities at Penrith swimming centre. Information on the map includes where to find accessible parking, toilets, kerb ramps, ATM's and public transport. There is a key that provides a simple explanation of the symbols used on the map. Symbols include: Police station - SMS telephones - Bus stops - Lifts - Audio traffic lights - Accessible toilets - Easy access train station - Taxi ranks - Parking - Audio ATMs - Standard ATMs - Accessible kerbs - Unapproved kerbs. Buildings and facilities are listed under the following headings: Service - TAFE - Police / Court house - Community services - Banks - Shopping centres. To locate facilities or buildings of interest users simply refer to the list and identify the reference grid number and refer to the grid position on the map. It includes contact details for Penrith City Council for further information, and a web address for the Penrith Disability Resource Centre's Nepean area access guide. It also includes a description of the difference between accessible kerbs and unapproved kerbs, and an explanation of talking ATMs.
