In April 1986 a the Great American Quilt Festival and Contest was held in New York City. Participants included the country's leading textile designers, authors, teachers, collectors, prizewinning quilters from every state, etc. Many of the entries are included in this publication. Having researched and documented hundreds of quilts, the editors wanted to know what makes a quilt really worth collecting and where some of these quilts can be seen.
