One Hundred Pounds as Prize

A first prize of at least one hundred pounds will be offered in a literary competiion to be held in conjunction with the Crossing of the Blue Mountains Sesqui-Centenary Celebrations next May. The Nepean branch of the cleebrations committee decided to help raise the prizemoney by publication sucbscription in co-operation with local newspapers. Strong efforts will be made to attract leading literary figures to add prestige and nationwide attention to the local celebrations. Art and essay competitions will be organised in schools throughout the area. Surplus funds would be used to provide youth centres in Penrith and to further youth activity here.
