James Bardsley arrived in NSW as a convict in 1818. He married Sarah Gregg in 1821 at Windsor. He was tollkeeper at the Emu Ferry.

This report is informed by seven semi-structures interviews with Penrith library users and their accounts detailing their legal information needs, information seeking processes, situations, helps and uses.
