Phillip Parker King married Harriet Lethbridge of Launceston Cornwall in January 1817. A few weeks later they sailed on the Dick for NSW. Harriet wrote to her husband during his long surveying work for the Royal Navy.

This was the first opportunity to exhibit the works of Margo Lewers' father Adolph Gustav von Plate (pronounced Plarter) and brother Carl Plate. Adolph, a German who travelled the world, settled in Perth. Carl was known for his abstract expressionism
