Alfred Baker was born in Yass in 1863. He came to Penrith in the 1880's to work at the Commercial Banking Company as an accountant. He later became manager of the branch. He was Honourary Secretary at the Nepean Cottage Hospital, President of the School of Arts and a committee member of the Agricultural Society. He died in Manly on 18 March 1920.
