Miles Franklin was a writer and feminist. Her grandfather, John Morris Franklin leased Chesterfield at Castlereagh from the Bellingham family from 1904 to some time in 1907. John Morris Franklin also served as a councillor on the Penrith Municipal Council from 1904 to September 1907 when he resigned.
