The hotel was opened by John Corry in 1859 as the First and Last Hotel. It was licensee, William Roberts, who changed the name to the Strangers Home Hotel in the 1880s.John Corry opened this hotel in 1859 calling it the First and Last Hotel as it was the first and last hotel on entering and leaving the town. It was also known as Corry's Inn. Licensee, William Roberts, changed the name to the Strangers Home Hotel in the 1880s. The hotel was also owned by Nathaniel (Nat) McCook, who is seen here on his horse outside the hotel. The hotel had ceased trading by 1916, was de-licensed in 1917 and demolished in May 1954.
