These wagon workers were employed by James or George Bennett. Twenty-five men would be employed for about a week in the construction of one wagon. They were body-builders, blacksmiths, wheelwrights and their labourers. James and George Bennett carried on the wagon works started by their father James Bennett, establishing a new site in Queen Street, St Marys in 1875. After a disagreement with his brother, James built his own workshop closer to the highway. George's wagon's were green and red and James's wagons were blue and red. George closed his business in 1920. Front row third left is a Mr Thompson and front row second from the right is Dick Lee.
