James McCarthy was granted land near the Lower Nepean River in 1804. A slab house was built with additions and extensions being added by descendants over the next 160 years. Farm buildings included a brandy house, meat house, stables and a hay shed. It is believed that all the buildings were demolished during the 1970's. The site is still clearly marked by mature trees, including carob and kurrajong.
