The railway bridge was designed by James Fraser, Engineer-in- Chief. It consisted of five iron trusses capable of taking heavier loads. Foundation work began in 1904 and was completed in 1906. The superstructure, seen here, was built by R. Tulloch, with construction beginning in 1906. The rail bridge was opened to trains in 1907. The bridge is located on the northern side of the Victoria Bridge.
