Doug Rennie was a first grade soccer player. In 1963 he became a referee with the Nepean District Soccer Referees Association and the following year became a first grade referee for the Australian Soccer Referees Federation. He was voted Australian Referee of the Year in 1984. He was awarded an OAM in 1994 and was inducted into the Australia Hall of Fame in 2001.
