Official opening of St Marys Swimming pool, 15 October 1966. officially opened by The Hon. Davis Hughes MLA. The cost of the project was $236,000. The area comprised a main swimming pool of Olympic standard, infants pool, learners pool, kiosk, dressing rooms, and administrative building. The pool was constructed in 1961 and managed by a groups of St Marys people and business people. In October 1962 the St Marys Pool Committee approached Council to take over the pool. The Council then upgraded the facility.
