This site was purchased by John Grant in 1834 and part of the house may have been built at this time. In 1850, it was leased by Robert Beatson, who obtained a licence for the Australian Arms Inn. The licence lapsed in 1869. Around 1911 the building became a post office with Mrs McKellar as postmistress. The building was renovated in 1984 by Penrith City Council.
