A brief history of Glenmore Heritage Valley states that William Cox's son Henry owned this house, which he named ‘Glenmore’. Henry Cox’s brothers owned “Fernhill’’ and ‘’Winbourne’’. Henry Cox sold the estate to Thomas Sutcliff Mort. In 1854 it was sold to James Riley who refurbished the home and added the southern wing. James Riley was Penrith's first Mayor. After James and his wife died, in 1904, two of his daughters ran a select School for Young Ladies in Glenmore Estate. It became a Golf Club in 1927. Since COVID, the busy Golf Club which served alcohol and food inside and on the verandah, is not functioning as it once did. These days the canteen mainly provides for those who use the golf course. 2024 marks 200 years of Glenmore Estate or its current name of Glenmore Heritage Valley.
