Summary

This title for young children introduces a character called Ollie who tells the reader where he is in the Universe. Ollie starts off with the simple premise that he is located in the room in his house, then zooms out from this location to his road, his town, county, country, continent, planet, solar system, galaxy and finally universe. Using a picture book style format and concept similar to the simple structure of "This is the House that Jack Built" photographs and gorgeous artwork by the super-funky Sarah Horne combine with the text to give children a sense of their place in the wide wide world by zooming out from their own location. It provides a springboard for discussion of the reader's location, and explores concepts of cultural diversity, extended family, time zones, and conservation of the planet that we all share. Finally, it invites the reader to try writing their own address, and continue outwards until finishing at The Universe.
