Site of original crossing of Nepean River. The bridge built by James Toby Ryan. "Emu Hall" in right background. Emu Hall was built between 1851-1854 for Toby Ryan. The bridge was built in 1855 by the Penrith Nepean Bridge Company and opened on 1 January 1856 with a grand ball being held on the bridge. It was destroyed by floodwaters on 29 June 1857.
