A short article on the history of Penrith Ambulance StatIon. Prior to 1936 the ambulance was housed at No 229 High Street Penrith, on the corner of Doonmore Street. The Nepean and Hawkesbury Ambulance Committee which covered the whole of the Nepean/Hawkesbury Valley were looking for a site when Mr F C Jones donated the present land. He also gave land for the Nepean Hospital. The ambulance station was opened on 28 November by the Minister for Health. It consisted of an ambulance garage, first aid room, staff room, living room, board room and kitchen on the ground floor, with 4 bedrooms, living room and balcony above. There were more garages and a laundry at the rear.
