St Marys Municipality was declared in 1890, with the council meetings being held in the Protestant Hall on the Great Western Highway. The new council chambers were opened on 9 December 1933. In 1949 St Marys Council amalgamated with Penrith City Council. The building was subsequently used as a Baby Health Centre, St Marys Branch Library and a Community Arts Centre. It is now the St Marys and District Historical Society.
